# Overview

A Privacy Provider (PP) is the operational entity at the heart of Moonlight's privacy layer. Providers relay user transactions through privacy channels, manage the on-chain infrastructure that makes private transfers possible, and bear the compliance responsibilities that keep the protocol regulation-friendly.
